Soft and Subtle - Why Mandalas?

I grew up playing the piano and the flute, and enjoying art. I loved photography and nature and always wanted to travel the world, taking photographs. But I never thought that having a profession in the arts would pay the bills. I was the oldest of 3 and always felt the responsibility of being the first. I had to be sensible and practical. So I studied law and then practiced for 30 years.  Now that my kids are older, I can afford to be a little less responsible!

BomBoho is my creation.    The bom part is a tribute to my daughter, who I nicknamed bombola. The boho part is a play on bola, a tribute to the part of my personality that I longed to pursue - the part that wants to roam free, to wear fun colors instead of the more conservative corporate attire, to travel and live an artistic life.

Why is my first collection inspired by mandalas?  First, they are used, spiritually, to inspire and to focus; at this stage in my life, I am inspired to focus on creativity and art.  Second, they are so colorfully striking, so they appeal to my aesthetic senses; I have personally chosen and colored each mandala on my products. I have personally placed each mandala on each product, carefully coordinating its colors, the background colors, and the colors on the product.  Third, mandalas are mostly symmetrical, and therefore they bring me balance in a world that is otherwise increasingly unbalanced. And lastly, the variations are endless, allowing me the freedom to create infinitely, unleashing the creativity I have so long craved.
